We will insulate your home in the most efficient manner possible using proper installation techniques; 58 years of experience in this market have taught us quite a few things – our insulation knowledge will help you save on your energy cost and make your home even cozier all yea

Why Insulate?

  • Help reduce your year-round heating and cooling costs
  • Make you home more comfortable
  • Increase your home’s resale value
  • Insulation is one of the best ways to help reduce our dependency on foreign oil

Whether it’s helping Central Ohio families stay warm, cool or dry, Edwards Mooney and Moses has the solution for you and your home.

How does it work?

An insulation’s ability to resist the flow of heat is called the R-Value. The higher the R-value, the better an insulation’s ability to stop the heat from passing through to the outside (in winter) or to the inside (in summer).

How much insulation do I need?

As shown in the map below, Central Ohio area homes need some of the highest levels of insulation of any areas in the country. That should come as no surprise given the brutally cold winters and the hot and humid summers we experience in Central Ohio. Contact one of our sales representatives today to learn how we can help your home.
The U.S Department of energy has established minimum recommended insulation R-values based on climate plus heating and cooling costs for each part of the country.

As you can see on the map below, the Central Ohio climate demands some of the highest R values in the country!

Department of Energy Recommended R-values for New Construction

A) R-18, R-22 and R-28 exterior wall systems can be achieved by either cavity insulation or cavity insulation with insulating sheathing. For 2 X 4 walls, Owens Corning recommends using either 3.5-inch thick R-13 fiberglass insulation with Foamular insulating sheathing. For 2 X 6 walls, Owens Corning recommends using either 3.5-inch thick R-21 or 6.5 inch thick R-19 fiberglass insulation.

B) Insulate crawlspace walls only if the crawlspace is dry all year, the floor about is not insulated and all ventilation to the crawlspace is blocked. A vapor retarder (e.g. 4 or 6 mil polyethylene film) should be installed on the ground to reduce moisture into the crawlspace.

C) No slab edge insulation is recommended.
